The Pastor’s Study
Did You Know that God Created You with Spiritual Gifts?
“We have different gifts…if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage…if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”
Romans 12:6a, 7-8 NIV
One of Satan’s oldest tricks is to make us think we aren’t worth anything and that God can’t use us. But it simply isn’t true. From one end to the other, the Bible tells us that God loves us…And God also wants to use us. He has equipped every one of us with the gifts we need to serve Him.
What spiritual gift has God given you? They won’t be the same as someone else’s gifts, however they are the ones God knew you needed. You can’t say your gifts are insignificant or don’t matter; that would be saying God made a mistake when He gave them to you, (God doesn’t make mistakes!)
Maybe your special gift is welcoming visitors when they get to our church, or maybe your special gift is working with our little people in the nursery or preschool. Perhaps your special gift is praying for others. Maybe God gave you the special gift of helping the homeless through our homeless under the bridge volunteer ministry. Maybe God has given you the special gift of singing or playing an instrument in our music worship team. Maybe God gave you the special gift of packing boxes with clothing and supplies to ship overseas through our Operation Christmas Shoe Box Ministry. These are just a few of the many opportunities available for you to put your special gifts to work for the glory of God.
Just ask God to show you your gifts…and then ask Him to help you use them for HIS glory! I hope you’ll ask Him soon, and we hope you’ll join us soon, serving Christ our Lord!
Through the Love of Christ,
