Singing In The Choir
A local church is made up of a diverse group of people who share many common purposes, the most important being to witness and serve Christ our Savior and lead others to know Him. Some see weekly church events as a "spiritual filling station", however, I am convinced that the church experience is enhanced greatly and our witness strengthened when believers get immersed in the many activities of the local church body.
There are many ways that a believer can serve the local church, including Sunday School teacher, deacon, usher, Bible study leader, visitation / outreach, various committee leadership positions, and in the music program. The church choir is the most visible music ministry of the church, but there are other important avenues of service, including soloist, musician, (pianist, organist, Praise Band member, handbells, etc.), the children and youth programs, and specialty groups such as quartets, trios, and ladies' and men's ensembles.
In fact, there are many ways to serve God within the local church, and every element of service brings honor and glory to Him and increases the effectiveness of our Christian witness. The question is how will you serve?
As for the music program, we would like to hear from you if you play an instrument or would like to sing. We would also like to know what types of music you enjoy hearing, be it traditional hymns, contemporary, Southern Gospel, Blue Grass Gospel, or other genres.
